Política da língua portuguesa em Timor-Leste : a formação de recursos humanos em Portugal

Abstract

Este trabalho pretende abordar a política da língua portuguesa no seu processo de desenvolvimento. Procura-se analisar a forma de reintrodução do português na atividade educativa em Timor-Leste, principalmente no Ensino Superior, na formação dos docentes universitários. Começamos com a contextualização da presença da língua portuguesa em Timor-Leste e com a apresentação de dados históricos, referindo, nomeadamente, as fases da colonização portuguesa, da ocupação indonésia e após a independência e a preparação dos recursos docentes para a implementação do programa de ensino em língua portuguesa, incidindo sobre a formação dos docentes da UNTL em Portugal. Centramos a nossa atenção observando a formação dos docentes da UNTL, designadamente os que neste momento estão a estudar, assim como os que já concluíram a sua formação e já regressaram a Timor-Leste. O trabalho está focado na formação dos docentes da UNTL que estudam na Universidade do Minho, tendo em vista a prossecução dos seus estudos em áreas de especialização e o aperfeiçoamento da língua portuguesa a sua formação em Portugal, principalmente na Universidade do Minho. Pretendemos conhecer as suas experiências e os sentimentos que têm quanto à utilização da língua portuguesa na sua formação e o esforço que empreendem para aprofundar os seus conhecimentos nesta língua. Pretende-se, ainda, dar a conhecer as perspetivas dos formandos sobre a utilização da língua portuguesa quando terminarem a sua formação em Portugal e acerca da implementação do Português pelos que já concluíram a sua formação e já regressaram a Timor-Leste. Esta dissertação pretende, também, analisar a disponibilidade dos formados para aperfeiçoarem os seus conhecimentos sobre a língua portuguesa e de que forma a pensam implementar no ensino, em ambiente de sala de aula.

This dissertation intends to discuss the politics of the Portuguese language and its development process. Its seeks to analyse its reintroduction in the educational scenario in East-Timor, particularly in the higher education sector, whilst training the higher education institutions' teaching staff. It firstly addresses the Portuguese Language use in East-Timor focusing upon historical data, referring, in particular, to the phases of Portuguese colonisation, the Indonesian occupation and the post-independence period as well as the training of teaching resources for the implementation of the Portuguese Language programme. It particularly focuses upon the training of the UNTL (National University of East Timor) teaching staff in Portugal. It appraises the UNTL teaching staff training programme, namely those who are currently pursuing their studies, as well as those who have already completed their training and have returned to east-Timor. It is worth emphasising this study focus solely upon the UNTL teaching staff who study, or have studied, at the University of Minho. They pursue their studies in areas of specialisation and betterment of Portuguese Language. The study seeks after shedding light upon their experiences and feelings regarding the use of the Portuguese Language in their training/education and the effort they undertake to deepen their knowledge in the language itself. It is intended also to highlight the teaching staff's perspective on the use of the Portuguese Language after the completion of their degrees and its use by those who have already completed their training and have returned to East-Timor. This dissertation does also aim to examine the teaching staff willingness to improve their knowledge of the Portuguese Language and how do they plan to implement it in their classroom environment.
